The right project for ‘added value’ now …can help beat rising house prices in the future…

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

For sure - as we at Mint have been saying for a good while now, its very much a situation - of ‘Extend Now and Move Later ‘ in order to help, in time, counteract the very much ongoing, and challenging revving up of current house prices.

This being the case - as house prices move into further record mode of late - adopting such an approach successfully depends, of course, on the choice and budgeting of the home improvement project you possibly consider undertaking in the near future.

THE key aim!

I noted online that this point was very much made by the always informative Home Owners Alliance, who wisely pointed out that getting the best added value possible from home improvement projects right now …MUST be THE key aim.

The key message is to check that your home improvement project IS the right thing, of the right type, in order to ensure that you really do achieve the best added value return possible going forward…which is as you very much need to be the case as house prices go on rising!

Check locally - perhaps with neighbours or local estate agents - to get the lowdown as to what projects are likely to offer best added value in your area. We at Mint, of course, are aware totally that what you spend now on improvement MUST ideally be reflected in the future price you can get for your property when you sell later on.

financially viable

We understand this to be never more vital than it is right now! Your new improvement project, apart from improving life at home, needs also to be all about helping you make a more financially viable future home move later on when you wish to.

kinds and types

Specimen ‘added value’ projects, which can help in the future to balance out today’s revved up home prices, can of course be of all kinds and types. These can, for example, include the likes of removing walls to achieve more modern open plan spaces … revamping kitchens……putting up a garden room… getting an en suite worked into a Master bedroom or creating extra parking space.

planning permission

Then there is also the likes of an eye-catching garden makeover …a good spruce up of the interior decor….converting a loft… or even turning the ‘under stairs’ into an office type space. Another idea might even be getting improvement planning permission in place as a possible telling temptation to a ‘later on’ potential buyer.

the right improvement

All much food for thought …..improve now and add value to your home is THE key message in these testing, soaring home- prices times. The clever talk is that the right home improvement can very realistically help you and yours ‘hit back’ at the rising home prices and enable you to make the ideal home move you want and to make that move more manageable, financially viable and achievable when in the future you go ahead and do so.

We at Mint Builders are, of course, here to help locally with all kinds of questions and ideas relating to all your new ‘added value’ home extensions or renovations. We are here to advise how you can best add ‘real value’ to your home for a successful ‘later on’ move to duly beat the current rising home prices very much to the fore right now.
